Pic Chaussy, back to hiking

The first real hike of summer 2018, above the Col des Mosses: a lake still held by ice, snowfields in the hollows, the first flowers and Lac Lioson seen from above.

The climb

Winter lingering

At the end of June, the mountain is still torn between two seasons. The small lake below the summit is half frozen, blocks of ice float on the dark water and the hollows keep their snowfields.

Between the patches of snow, the pastures fill with anemones and globeflowers. Back to hiking, as Emmanuelle put it: that is exactly it.

Lac Lioson below

Higher up, the view opens onto the Vaud Prealps, ridges still streaked with white and, far below, Lac Lioson set in its green valley.

A goat wanders across the snowy rocks, blue gentians dot the grass above the lake. A fine way to get the legs going again before summer.
