The Trient glacier, autumn larches

A Sunday resting after the previous day's walk? No: we went again, for a modest 900 metres of climbing through larch paradise in autumn, facing the Trient glacier.

The climb

Larch paradise

In mid-October, the larches are gold against a blue sky. The path climbs above Trient, and the glacier appears between the golden branches.

Jagged peaks rise above the forest, and the glacier tongue reaches down, grey and crevassed, at the head of the valley.

Facing the glacier

Gold and ice

Higher up, larches cling to the rocks facing the seracs. Emmanuelle enjoys the autumn sun in the middle of the golden forest.

The whole valley glows in the October light, the Trient glacier between the larches. A Sunday far better than a sofa.
