La Crevasse, autumn larches
Always on the lookout for loop hikes: this one starts from Chemin-Dessus above Martigny and goes via La Crevasse. A very pleasant loop through golden larches, one to do again.

Late October gold
Martigny and the Rhône valley spread out below. The path crosses pastures and larch forests in full colour, under a hazy autumn sky.
From a rocky spur, the view plunges down into the valleys, facing peaks dusted with fresh snow.
La Crevasse
A discovery
We didn't know La Crevasse: old twisted trees, firs and golden larches, and white peaks everywhere between the branches.
On the way back, Hérens cows are still grazing in the meadows. We may well come back: superb.
