A splendid national park
Italy's oldest national park reveals itself in spring, when snow still holds the summits and the torrents are in spate. Above Cogne, a white pyramid rises over the forests.
Lower down, hamlets of dark wood huddle at the bottom of the valleys, among larches still bare. And water everywhere: waterfalls dropping into green pools among polished slabs. Lovely walks as a reward.
