Scouting ahead

Emmanuelle's father, all of 88, had proposed the plan: Les Paccots, a night on the Moléson, back to Les Paccots. Knowing his creative optimism about distances, we went to scout the route.

The long grassy ridge facing the Teysachaux, the Dent de Lys, Lake Geneva far away, the Gruyère farms: magnificent, but in crushing heat. The second half, where we suffered so much, wasn't even the planned one.

August

Twelve years after Kili

On 29 August, perfect weather. Christian went off to climb the Teysachaux while Emmanuelle led the rest of the group around it, and everyone met up for the fine ridge to the summit of the Moléson.

A night in Moléson-Village, rösti at Les Moilles the next day, and two shepherdesses giving an impromptu accordion and saxophone concert. People met at the foot of Kilimanjaro, other languages, other paths, and still the wish to get together.
