The route · indicative
The climb
From our meadow to Klewenalp
Waking up in the rooftop tent, breakfast facing the lake, then the walk up to Klewenalp through incredibly green meadows and curious brown cows. The lake breaks into arms and peninsulas, with the Pilatus and the Rigi opposite.
At the top, the cable car drops us in Beckenried for an Aperol by the water, at the foot of the church, before we go back up to the trails.
The traverse
On to Stockhütte and Emmetten
Then the traverse to Stockhütte, a balcony path above the lake through forests and gentians, with another gondola ride down to Emmetten for a well-earned Coke and a little shopping for dinner.
Fifteen kilometres, nearly nine hundred metres of climbing, and in the evening a sunset over the lake from our little hill. A wonderful discovery of the canton of Nidwalden, which we knew so little.
