The route

The lake at our feet

We wanted the Grammont before the summer invasion. We set off through still-snowy forest, past Lac de Taney and its little chapel, then up the long ridge to the summit cross, between snowfields and the first fresh grass.

From the top, Lake Geneva stretches from Villeneuve to Geneva and the Dents du Midi still gleam with snow. The ibex, though, did not show up. We will have to come back, but not too soon: the climb is a real one.
