The climb

Waterfalls and rhododendrons

The path leaves the forest for the first alpine pastures, where wooden chalets huddle beneath the cliffs. The stream tumbles in cascades between the rocks.

At the end of June, everything bursts into bloom: rhododendrons, orange lilies, ferns, and above them the Dents Blanches still under snow. Emma in paradise, as the post sums it up.

Towards Barme

From one pasture to the next

At the alp, the Swiss flag flies facing the valley. White anemones grow at the edge of the drop, a last snowfield melts in the stream bed.

Goats greet the walkers on the pasture, then the great waterfall plunges down the rock face. 1,200 metres and 15 kilometres: pure happiness.
