Mid-October

A full dose of sun

Lac Bleu lives up to its name: turquoise water, clear down to the stones on the bottom, ringed by larches turning to gold. Above, the summits of the Arolla valley have put on their first white coat.

The path then climbs through the scree to the Aiguilles Rouges hut, perched at 2,810 metres facing the glaciers. Enough sun stored up to face the bad weather forecast.
